Q. Can the Governor's Committee help me find a job?
A. For job search assistance, please contact a local One-Stop Career Center and/or access the CalJOBSSM Web site. The Governor's Committee is comprised of decision-makers and leaders from the private and public sectors whose expertise is essential in supporting and building systems that promote universal access, remove barriers to work, and enable people with disabilities to gain independence and economic self-sufficiency. Also, see our Resources listing for other job search tools.
Q. Is the Governor's Committee part of a national network?
A. The Governor's Committee is part of a national network that includes the National Association of Governors' Committees. The Governor's Committee participates in several special projects, such as the National Disability Employment Awareness Month campaign each October, and the nationwide Youth Leadership Forum.
Q. What is the California Health Incentives Improvement Project (CHIIP), and how is it related to the Governor's Committee?
A. The CHIIP is a project funded by a grant from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for the purpose of removing barriers to the gainful employment of people with disabilities, particularly health care and personal assistance barriers. Representatives from the CHIIP are members of the Governor's Committee. The CHIIP Steering Committee meets quarterly with the Governor's Committee, as the two organizations share a common vision and similar goals.
